Central Festa 2010

One of the things I enjoy doing when I want to get away from the normal interwebs happenings, is go to Minkara and look though some sexy rides from across the way.  I have been tirelessly looking for an internship and have been coming up dry.  I needed to get away from the pressure of that and my folks on me as to why I haven’t found an internship so I sat in the online J-land for a while.  Minkara is awesome for browsing actual rides from Japan.  It’s like Cardomain for Japanese people, only it’s better.  There is 150% less rice over there.  On my journey I stumbled across some coverage of the Central Festa from this past June.  I wanted to share it with you ladies because you’re all so special to me.

We start with the Mazda MPV, haha.  You wouldn’t believe the requests I get for MPV’s to be posted, so here ya go guys!

A super clean 2nd gen Estima, I’ll take two please!

Why the hell can’t I remember the name of this car?!

Wagon R’s are some of my favourite rides of all time.  This is a very nice example, even though I am not gaga over those wheels.

I love this Wagon R+.  I gives me an old bomber style feeling when I look at it.  Love the sheen of the gold paint and the matte finish of the wheels.  Soooo good!

Oh, I like this combo, I like it very much!

Odyseey Ass Galore!

Great colour combo on this 3rd Gen Estima.  Funky ass exhaust tips too.

A nice Daihatsu duo: Materia and Tanto.  I could do with different wheels on the Materia, but that’s just me.

Yep, they have those turdburgers in Japan too.

Clean and simple little Daihatsu Move.

3rd Gen Estima that is DIW (doing it wrong).  Way too much going on with the graphics and the stickers.  Bleh, it had potential.

Stepwagons for daaaays!  I freaking love the last one.  It’s is simple and down right gorgeous!

Um, no comment.

I like the black and gold we have here.  Very simple and very well done imo.

Such a badass picture.

Holy balls, this Elgrand just made me mess my pants.  Oh. Mah. Gawd.

I can’t say I know what this is, any help here?

Two GORGEOUS Estimas of different generations coexisting peacefully.  We can all take note on this people.  If the Estimas can do it, so can we!

That was retarded.

Great colour scheme on this Estima.  Goddammit, I could stare at this thing all day!

I go apeshit for Estimas.  Sad I did not find any 1st gen Estimas at this show.

I love the contrast of vehicles in Japan.  Two different rides done two different ways but both look so freaking good.

Um, wtf are you doing?

Wagon R murdered out and looking so fine!

Sick Stagea Wagon!

Say no to Lambo doors.

Odyssey just looking sooooooooo good!

I’ll end with this kick ass shot of a kick ass Estima looking so freaking kick ass.  KICK ASS!

A Serious Legacy

After I posted the Atenza built by DAMD, Rob sent me a message with pics from DAMD’s insane Legacy duo.  He sent me a teaser pic, a teaser pic that forced me to change my pants (if you know what I’m saying).  If you don’t, it means I messed myself.  There, I said it.

Oh yeah!

I really like this kit from DAMD.  The kit consists of the grille, front and rear bumpers, front over fender (don’t really see that), and side extension.  It’s a very subtle and clean kit.  Nothing gaudy or over the top.  Very well done.

This legacy is rolling on WEDS BVILLENS TT7R and oh boy, do they look amazing!

Dat Ass!

Beautiful interior.  I am loving the red leather in here.  I just want to sit in there and sleep, it looks so comfy!

Oh, they have a black one too.  I super sexy black one!

Oh Mah Gawd, I messed my pants – twice!

Thanks for the tip Rob!

Wagovans Galore

Saw these two beauties on The Chronicles…

Two Wagovans sittin’ pretty.  I like where this is going.

Dat Ass!

Orange Crush

Oh mah gah.  It’s no secret that I love Starlets, seriously.  If you haven’t figured that out by now, you and I need to have a talk.  I mean, I thought we were friends?  I coulda been a contendah.  I’m just rambling now, I’ll stop.

Okay, Starlets . . . oh yeah, check this bitch out!

Oh mah gah, it’s so clean and beautiful!  Stanced perfectly and sitting on timeless Wats.  Can you seriously ask for anything more?  CAN YOU!?  Well I guess yes, you could ask to own this beauty.  It’s freaking gorgeous.

Wait, oh yeah, I just died.

Cone Killer Classic: Day Deux

Back for round two I see.  well you will not be disappointed, I promise.  Okay, you might be disappointed.  You will more than likely be disappointed and want to impale a baby lemur for all your troubles.  Because of this, I have purchased mad stock in baby lemurs.  Insider trading?  Nope.

Anyhooooooo . . .

So day two rolls around.  I wake from my slumber all ready to go.  I slept in my clothes and shoes so I could just hop out the door and head to the airport.  Okay, that was a lie, I slept all natural.  Okay, that wasn’t true either, I slept in my pink footie pajamas.  That’s the truth.

I headed out to the box stoked and ready to roll out.  I went and bought $4.50 worth of gas, gotta keep the levels on the lower end.  Plus, I wanted to annoy the gas station guy and confuse him.  I succeeded with my task.

So on day two, I was set to run third, work first, and my free time was during the second group.  I worked station five, which saw minimal action due to it being a larger, sweeping, turn.  I really like working before I run or at least being able to spectate first.  It allows me to see some of the lines other cars are taking and really get sections of the course imprinted in my mind.  For me, it helps.  So I took pics during the second group.  This is the same group of cars that I shot before.  I tried more panning and playing with my settings.  They did not come out as I had hoped because I was shooting in to the sun and I didn’t compensate enough.  It’s a meh.  Here are a few more:

Miata from hell!  So awesome!

Goddammit, I love this Camaro.  It’s so freaking boss!

Tried some shots towards the backstretch.

This one is for you Boost!

Mini stock car or something.  This thing was stupid fast, so damn fantastic.  He also had a cone lodged up in his right front wheel well.  Baha!

Once again, you can view all my pics from the weekend on my Flickr.  (Not all there yet)

Mmmkay, well now it is my turn.  I had been watching everyone run and figured the box would be an issue.  I kept seeing the higher horsepower cars having their rears step out on the exit of the box.  I foresaw a possible problem.

Through the straight!  On FIYAH!

Now for my tires, oh my tires.  I did some math and by “did some math” I mean that I guesstimated that I am the almighty and that I know what I am doing when in reality I haven’t the slightest of ideas.  Okay, so I “did some math” and decided to keep my rear tires at 38psi (cold) and bump the fronts to 41psi (cold).  This did wonders!  Much less frontal roll and sidewall flex, it felt much better.  When heated up, the tires ballooned to 41psi in the rear and 46psi up front.  Yeah, holy moose testicles is right.  I knew there would be heat expansion, I guess my math didn’t figure it would be that high.  Oh well, it worked really well.

Body Roll!

The course was reversed on day two.  For those that don’t know, that just means we run the same course from the first day just in the opposite direction, with minor changes.  The final section that raped me the day before was now part of the start.  I did much better this time, but still managed to bog it.  My fastest time on day two was a 68.3 I believe and I was super stoked to hit that.  I knew I could have easily picked up another two seconds, at least, but I took things too easy and still bogged that section.

On my last run, I nailed a gate cone at the beginning and then went into “fuck it” mode.  If there was a cone in my way, I wasn’t going to try and save it, I was just going to whack it.  This worked very well and I wracked up three cones.  I didn’t care, I had a blast.  Plus those were my only cones on day two.

Back to the tires, auto-x beat the shit out of them.

When I left I was all smiles!  Took second in my class for the weekend and for both days (default trophy!).  I had an awesome time with awesome people, what more could I ask for?

The trip home was a bowl full of shit-coloured sherbet.

Yay traffic!  So freaking awesome.  This wasn’t my only stint with traffic on the ride back either, there was more than enough to go around.

You know what helps to kill time . . .

Reflections in tanker trucks, always a fun time.  Yeah it sucks, but so do waffles.

Saw this sexy big rig on the way home too.  This picture was much harder to take than anticipated.  It was so shiny, it distracted me with it’s shininess in the purest form.  Never satisfied?  Sounds like a personal problem.

So cool.  Giant stacks, razor thingies on the wheels, plaid or leather or some former animal on the tank in very cool stitching.  I loves this truck, even though the guy is impotent.

Sweet, Free Wi-Fi at the next exit!  I’m so down!

This rig offered hours of fun for me!  SO SHINY!!

Remember that obstructive and oh-so-abundant traffic I mentioned?  Yeah, it came back.

It was sort of cool though.  That rig directly to the right gave me a thumbs up while we were waiting.  Then we were still next to each other after a while and he rolled down his window and we yelled back and forth at each other.  Turns out he has an xB too, a BSP (Black Sand Pearl).  He drove it from Nashville or something like that.  Kind of awkward yelling up at him from my tiny box.  It’s a cool story now.

As you probably inferred, the trip took a little more than the previous record of three hours and twenty minutes.  But it was cool, I had a blast all weekend and a little traffic wasn’t no thang.  When I got home, I pretty much passed the hell out until the next day, I was tired.

That was my recap of my weekend, hope you ladies enjoyed it.  If not, suck it.

Cone Killer Classic: Day Juan

Oh yes, I have returned from my journeys to the beyond.  That beyond is also known as Pennsylvania.  Man oh man was it an awesome weekend.  Pretty much the most fun I have had on the weekend of July 17-18, 2010 ever!  I’ll be writing about it today and tomorrow.  If you don’t want to read what I’m about to write, bite me and have a nice day.

So, morning of July 17, 2010, 4:27am.  I wake up, late.  I was planning to get up by 4am so I could get ready and peace out by 5am.  So that already through my ass off.  But, I was still super stoked for the day.  Like SUPER stoked.  Stoked like a fourteen year old girl when Salena Gomez comes to town.  Yeah, that is crazy stoked.  So  I rush everything, get ready, load up the box and take out unnecessary items.  I’m so ready!

5:23am, I’m ready to boogie!!

So I roll out.  Now, from the get-go I knew that I was going to be tight on time, like stupid tight on time.  I had to do something, something I tend not to do, I had to speed.  For those that don’t know, I drive slow.  I drive like Granny Smith on her way to bingo.  I see no reason to speed unless necessary, well this was necessary!  Speed limits were for boobs!  I am no boob!

I left when it was dark and was kind of excited to see the sun rise on the drive.  Granted I would be flying and couldn’t really enjoy it, I didn’t care.

I almost missed my chance to grab the sunrise, but I sort of got it.  It was nice though.

See, twas a nice morning.

So at this point, I am flying.  Flying for me is 80mph, so that’s what I’m doing.  For whatever reason, it was foggy as holy hell that morning and people were driving like ass-hats.  And by ass-hats, I mean slow.  But I kind of synced up with this other group of no gooders and we sped from NJ to PA.  Was tailing a Volvo XC90 all the way up to my exit.  I used him as a cop net.  If he got pulled over, then I knew that I should probably slow down until I passed them or at least say “fuck it” fast enough to escape.

In PA though it was stupid foggy, especially when we crossed over the Susquehanna River.  A couple times I could only see the car in front of me and not much else.

I  CAN’T SEE SHIT!  It’s 7:43am, do you know where your children are?  Yeah, somewhere in that fog.  (You can see the XC90 in this pic)

Yes, I’m doing 80 and taking pics.  I live more dangerously than Betty White.  Chick is hardcore son.

Registration is set to close at 9:30am and the driver’s meeting is set for 9:45am.  Runs for the first group are set to start at 10am.  At time of this pic, I was no where near my destination. So, I am still hauling major ass.   My usual journey to State College, PA takes me four hours, this trip took me less than three hours and twenty minutes.  Yeah, I was on it.  Best part, I still got 30mpg!  Ha ha ha!

Anyway, I flew up to Black Moshannon State Park and up to Mid State Airport where the event was being held.  I arrived at like 9:28am.  Thankfully they decided to push everything back a bit.  I was able to walk the course once and get the box prepped a little.

Holy shit.  I did not obey a single speed limit on my trip up there.

Racing time:  There were three groups to go.  I ran in the second group so I worked during the third group.  So I took pics during the first group.  You can see whatever shots I have form the weekend on my FLickr (I haven’t uploaded them all yet).

Finally have a wagon to post!  MS3 on R compounds, so awesome!

Pickin’ that rear wheel up like a pro.

I’ll share a few more shots with you guys.

What I love so much about auto-x is the wide range of cars you’ll see.  Like this wacky Neon to…

…this super badass Camaro.  The cars are so different and all equally amazing.

Amazing muscle to…

…newer German engineering.  The eclecticism is astounding at these events.  Not to mention, the people.  The people are so great.  I really mean when I say that the Central PA SCCA has a great bunch of people in it and attendees.  I cannot speak high enough of them, truly special people.

Now for my turn to run.  The course was tight and technical in the beginning, fast in the middle, and tight at the finish.  Loved it.

Oh yeah, body roll!!!

On the cones like it’s my job!

I adored the course, especially the beginning.  It was tight and the box was at home.  The course got much faster on the back stretch and the end was super crazy, for me at least.  I constantly kept over-driving and going into the finish too hot.  This aggressiveness subsequently lead me to suck horribly at the final section, station six.  I slow-motion nailed a gate cone because of how hot I constantly wen into the turn.

My tires were also annoying me greatly.  My current tire setup is very tall and the sidewalls are very soft, especially for auto-x.  The tire continuously rolled over on itself in the fronts but felt great in the rears.  I was running 38psi (cold) on all four corners and I felt how much of a bad idea it was.  Day two was better, but I’ll delve into that with tomorrow’s post.  Hopefully new tires will happen before next season so I can really see what this beast can do.

My best time was a 70.2 sec.  I am generally 10-12 seconds behind the faster and more powerful cars.  If I recall correctly, the fastest cars were in the 55-56 sec range.  Yeah, crazy fast.  I knew I could pull out at least another two seconds if I could master that final section.  It pissed me off so much that I was getting my ass handed to me by that section that I did fun runs that day.  Fun runs is you pay an extra ten bucks and get another five non-comp runs after the day’s competition is done.  Can’t beat that deal.  So my first non-comp run was a 69.8, holy balls!  But +1 cone, dammit.  Second run, 69.009, HOLY SHIT BALLS (cone free)!  Yeah, I was hella happy.  For my last three runs I slowed it down, just trying to master that final section.  I never actually did fully get it down, but I got close, oh so close.

Yes, I run with my headlights on, deal with it.

I was informed that in the same final section that was kicking my ass that I apparently got the box up on two wheels for a moment.  Yeah, I was just as surprised when they told me.  It’s okay, I’ll give you a second to pick up your jaw.  I didn’t honestly feel it.  I felt to bounce of tires but never felt as if I was flirting with death.  But all stayed well and true so I am grateful for that.

All-in-all it was an awesome day.  I was crazy tired and sweaty from the day but so freaking happy to have done it.  I went and stayed at a friend’s place and took a much needed shower.  Man, I was sweating like a big Indian kid.   I finished second in my class, which is great because there were two of us.

Day two was also awesome but you’ll have to wait until tomorrow to hear about it.

On the Road Again

Okay, it’s 4:30am in NJ and I am getting ready to peace out by 5am. WOOT!  I am heading out for a weekend full of auto-x goodness.  Heading out for Central PA SCCA’s Cone Killer Classic.  Oh yes, I am excited by that name too.  Two days full of auto-x?  I’ll do it, yes I will.  It’s a four+ hour drive to get out there so I must be going but I will have a full writeup when I return!  I’m probably sleeping in my car tonight, aww yeah!

I leave you with another shot of that gorgeous black A4 Avant that so many of you went nuts-o for earlier this week.

Sooooooo sexy!

PS: Steekars are sold out!
