Mooneyes Coverage

SpeedHunters has been posting up their coverage of the Mooneyes Streetcar Nationals in Japan.  As always they have amazing coverage, filled with great pics and commentary.  I have decided that since they had a few shots of some of the stuff we like, I would post up a few.  Doing this to show my appreciation and to give them exposure in case people have never been there.

Here we go.

First up we have an old Nissan Atlas 200.  I can honestly say that I have never seen one of these customized, but I love it.  I like what the owner has done with it.  Whether he/she was going for the look or not it  looks great.  A very simple work in progress, love it.

The Dodge van front end is such a popular modification in Japan.  It beefs up these little kei vans a little.  I love how they try to “Americanize” their cars and we try to “Japify” ours.

A Stepwagon that looks like it came from a junk yard.  I really like the “hood ride” movement.  I would do it to a box, just not my current box.  Maybe on the next one.

Daihatsu Mira done up hearse style.  Love these quirky little work horses.  I wish we could get these here, but I doubt they would fair well on American roadways.

Toyota Carina GT wagon, not something I see tuned very often.  You also don’t see many rolling on Works.  SpeedHunters says that this one has a Ferrari F50 front brake calipers, insane!

I do not exactly post Land Cruisers often, but I love them and these ones are clean as hell.

VW Buses all done up.  I never get tired of seeing these.

I dig the roughness of this bus.  Feels like I can’t approach it without the propper shots.

This shortened Dodge is pretty friggin awesome.  It’s a wild modification that few do, but they are still very popular in Japan.

Mini trucks, yay!  I remember back when I wanted to build a mini truck, but I kept changing my mind on which one I wanted and then I just stopped thinking about it.  Attention span of a leaf.

Never thought I would see an XJ look like this.  It pains me to see this poor thing like this.  She should be out on the trails, not looking Captain America’s red headed step child.

Come back next year…

Check out SpeedHunters for the rest of their coverage.
